Meet the Gouden Carolus Cuveé Van De Keizer Whisky Infused. This brew is from the hand of the Gouden Carolus Brewery: Het Anker. This Ruby Red Beer at 11.7% vol. retails for 7.50 euros in-store. It's base is the Gouden Carolus Imperial Dark, which has been enriched by an infusion of Gouden Carolus Single Malt whisky, which is distilled on site.
All of this and more, you get to know when visiting the brewery in the city of Mechelen, Belgium. You can take a very entertaining tour around the grounds and inside the brewery itself for about 9 euros. And they reserve the best for last: the tasting! You get to enjoy two of their standard collection beers. And afterwards you can enjoy all the other products in their lovely brasserie, as well as a bite to eat. The brewery is located close to the city centre, so you could easily make an outing of it!
This whisky infused beer is everything you expect it to be. Ruby in colour, powerful en full-bodied without it being overly sickly-sweet like some darker beers. It does have a lovely vanilla and chocolate aroma without losing the true and pure taste of the exclusively Belgian hops.
